Alta Sierra
Alta Sierra is south of Grass Valley and consists of the Alta Sierra subdivision and the larger acreage of Alta Sierra Estates.
Alta Sierra offers easy access to Interstate 80, a 20-minute drive south on Highway 49. Alta Sierra Is a rural subdivision located south of Grass Valley, sandwiched between Hwy 49 and Dog Bar Rd. This community of approximately 7000 residents enjoys and elevation of approximately 2300, tall pines, majestic oaks an occasional snow and bountiful wildlife. The community features a golf
course, club house and the average parcel sizes vary from .25 ac to 1.5 acres with a smattering of larger parcels in Alta Sierra proper and 5 plus acre parcels in the surrounding Alta Sierra Ranches and Lodestar.

ALTA SIERRA SCHOOLS
The test scores of Nevada County Schools are among the highest in the state of California, second only to Marin County in the San Francisco Bay Area. Families living in the Alta Sierra area send their children to Grass Valley pre-, elementary, middle, and high schools or the schools in the south part of the county – the Lake of the Pines area.
ALTA SIERRA RECREATION
A nine-hole golf course is located in the center of the subdivision. Smaller lots under an acre can be found in the environs around the golf course. A ten minute drive takes you to the recreational opportunities on Grass Valley, including Empire Mine State Park, the Northstar Mining Museum, miles of trails for horseback riding, hiking, and mountain biking. Several lakes dot the immediate area.
