As New Year’s approaches fast the age old question comes to mind: shall I make New Year’s resolutions this year or not?
I am a goal setter and a planner; do I need resolutions also?
According to Wikipedia : A New Year’s resolution is a secular tradition, most common in the Western Hemisphere but also found in the Eastern Hemisphere, in which a person makes a promise to do an act of self-improvement or something slightly nice, such as opening doors for people beginning from New Year’s Day. Whereas a goal is an objective that a person or a system plans or intends to achieve.
Hmmm….perhaps a combination of the two is in order perhaps “resoals”. Changing from a New Year’s resolution to the new “resoals” would take the pressure off those consuming Champagne and making raucous noise of New Year’s Eve while continuing on in the tradition of setting goals for the next 12 months.
Wishing you a safe and Happy New Year!
